Capital One is seeking an AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team in San Jose. You will design, develop, and deploy scalable AI systems including foundation model training, LLM inference, and agentic workflows to enhance customer experiences. The role involves optimizing large-scale production AI systems for performance, cost, and latency while ensuring responsible and ethical AI deployment.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference
- Implement agents, multi-agent workflows, similarity search, guardrails, and model evaluation systems
- Optimize foundation models for scalability, cost, latency, and throughput in production environments
- Build deployment pipelines, testing environments, and telemetry for model performance monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver AI-powered products and contribute to technical vision
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, EE, or CE plus 2+ years of AI/ML experience, or Master's degree
- At least 2 years of programming experience with Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java
- Strong foundation in engineering, mathematics, hardware, software, and AI optimization
