Capital One is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team in Cambridge, MA. This role focuses on designing, developing, and deploying scalable AI systems including foundation model training, LLM inference, and agentic workflows. The engineer will optimize large-scale production AI systems for performance, cost, and latency while ensuring responsible and reliable AI governance.
Responsibilities
Design, develop, test, deploy, and support AI software components including foundation model training and LLM inference.
Build and implement agents and multi-agent workflows, similarity search, and guardrails.
Optimize foundation model techniques to improve scalability, cost, latency, and throughput of production AI systems.
Define and maintain service-level objectives (SLOs) for AI reliability, including uptime and model performance drift.
Collaborate with infrastructure engineering to optimize GPU/TPU utilization and accelerate model inference pipelines.
Lead cross-functional technical reviews ensuring security, data governance, and compliance standards.
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, EE, or related field plus 4+ years of experience, or Master's degree plus 2+ years.
