Depending on how you use the site, we may process:

• Account data: name, email address, password hash, account role, and terms acceptance timestamp.
• Session data: authentication tokens, session expiry, IP address, and browser user agent.
• Profile preferences: role interests, experience levels, work modes, location, salary expectations, technology preferences, newsletter frequency, and push alert settings.
• Employer content: job listings, company details, apply URLs, and optional company logos you upload.
• Reports: job report reason, optional description, and your user ID if you are signed in.
• Payment metadata: Stripe checkout session identifiers for featured job purchases. We do not store card numbers.
• Usage data: aggregated job view, apply-click, and description-expand counts (not linked to individual browsing profiles).
• Analytics and push data: page views and events via Google Analytics (with consent), and device/subscription data via OneSignal (with consent).
• Onboarding location hint: during profile setup we may send your IP address to ipapi.co to suggest a country. We retain only the resulting country code.

We process personal data on the following legal bases:

• Contract: to create and manage your account, provide job matching, let employers post jobs, and deliver core site features.
• Consent: for email digests, web push notifications, and non-essential analytics/marketing cookies. You can withdraw consent at any time.
• Legitimate interests: to secure the service, prevent abuse, moderate reports, maintain aggregated job statistics, and improve listings quality, balanced against your rights.
• Legal obligation: where we must retain or disclose data to comply with applicable law.

We do not sell your personal data. We use service providers ("processors") who process data on our behalf:

• PostgreSQL hosting (VPS) — Database and account storage
• Fortuly Cloud / Amazon SES — Transactional and digest email delivery (privacy policy)
• Stripe — Featured job payments (privacy policy)
• Google Analytics — Website usage analytics (with consent) (privacy policy)
• OneSignal — Web push notifications (with consent) (privacy policy)
• Contabo S3 — Company logo file storage (privacy policy)
• ipapi.co — Approximate country detection during onboarding (privacy policy)

Job listings may link to third-party employer websites. Those sites have their own privacy practices.

Some providers are located outside the European Economic Area, including in the United States (for example Google Analytics, Stripe, and OneSignal). Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses or equivalent mechanisms offered by those providers.

We use essential cookies to keep you signed in. Non-essential cookies are used only with your consent:

• Essential: authentication/session cookies required for sign-in.
• Analytics: Google Analytics cookies to understand site usage.
• Marketing/push: OneSignal cookies and similar technologies for web push.

You can change your choices at any time using the cookie banner or the "Cookie settings" link in the site footer.

• Account and profile data: kept until you delete your account or ask us to erase it.
• Sessions: kept until they expire or you sign out.
• Job reports: kept while moderation is pending and for a reasonable period after resolution.
• Employer-submitted jobs and logos: kept while listings remain published and as needed for records, fraud prevention, and legal compliance.
• Aggregated job statistics: may be retained indefinitely in non-personal form.
• Server and provider logs: retained according to our hosting and service providers' policies.

If you are in the EEA or UK, you may have the right to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to certain processing, withdraw consent, and request data portability where applicable.

• Update profile preferences at /profile.
• Turn off email digests and push alerts in notification preferences.
• Unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each digest email.
• Delete your account in the danger zone on /profile.
• Request a copy of your data by emailing us.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local supervisory authority. In Portugal, you may contact Comissão Nacional de Proteção de Dados (CNPD).

We use your preferences to rank and recommend jobs and to send digests or push alerts. This is recommendation-only processing and does not produce legal or similarly significant effects.

AIEngineer.careers is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16.

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures such as HTTPS, password hashing, access controls, and secure hosting. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure.

We may update this policy from time to time. Material changes will be posted on this page with an updated effective date. Continued use after changes means you accept the revised policy, subject to your rights under applicable law.
