Capital One is seeking a Staff-level AI Engineer to join the Intelligent Foundations and Experiences team in McLean/San Jose. You will design and deploy scalable AI systems, including foundation model training, LLM inference, and agentic workflows, while optimizing for cost and performance on AWS infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy AI software components including LLM inference, agents, and multi-agent workflows.
- Optimize foundation models for scalability, latency, and throughput using state-of-the-art techniques.
- Lead cost-performance governance reviews and mentor senior engineers.
- Integrate heterogeneous AI systems (RAG, generative, rule-based) into unified production pipelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in CS, AI, or related field with 6+ years of experience.
- Strong proficiency in Python, Go, Scala, CUDA, or Java.
- Experience with PyTorch, Hugging Face, VectorDBs, and cloud platforms (AWS/GCP/Azure).
- Deep understanding of hardware/software optimization for AI workloads.
