Microsoft Robotics is seeking a Senior Member of Technical Staff to define and implement security and safety frameworks for its physical intelligence platform. This role bridges cybersecurity, functional safety, and AI safety to ensure autonomous robots operate securely in real-world environments. You will design threat models, safety architectures, and runtime monitors to protect against cyber-attacks and AI behavior failures.
Responsibilities
- Design end-to-end security and safety architectures for robotic systems across the hardware-software stack.
- Develop safety analyses and threat models (FMEA, FTA, HAZOP, STPA) for robotic systems in human-populated environments.
- Define and enforce safety envelopes and runtime safety monitors for autonomous robot behaviors.
- Analyze security metrics and telemetry data to identify trends and implement mitigation strategies.
- Develop incident response processes for robotics-specific security and safety events.
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python.
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements.
