Cisco is seeking a Senior Staff Software Engineer to lead the development of an AI-native security platform. The role involves architecting distributed systems that utilize foundation models and agentic workflows to detect, predict, and respond to cyber threats at scale. You will bridge deep expertise in cybersecurity operations with advanced machine learning engineering to build scalable detection infrastructure.
Responsibilities
- Design and build systems combining security telemetry with foundation models for threat prediction and detection.
- Architect distributed platforms capable of correlating trillions of events into explainable alerts for triage agents.
- Develop AI DevOps pipelines for rapid experimentation with data, knowledge bases, and context memory.
- Prototype and test new AI features in collaboration with security SMEs and researchers.
- Co-design intuitive, scalable AI-enhanced threat detection workflows for security analysts.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree with 12+ years or Master's with 8+ years of related experience.
- Deep understanding of security operations concepts including attack surface management and threat analytics.
- Experience building and maintaining pipelines for large-scale security telemetry ingestion and normalization.
- Expertise in distributed systems design, storage layers, and senior-level Python development.
- Proficiency in CI/CD, version control (GitHub/GitLab), and automated testing frameworks.
Nice to Have
- Familiarity with TDIR/SIEM architectures and Splunk platform internals/APIs.
- Background as a Tier 3 SOC analyst with experience automating SecOps workflows.
- Hands-on experience with RAG, GraphRAG, and vector databases like FAISS or Pinecone.
- Experience optimizing training workloads for LLMs or specialized models like GNNs, GCNs, and GATs.
- Ability to design experiments evaluating model output for accuracy, usability, and cost.
