Okta is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of AI security mechanisms for autonomous agents. You will architect dynamic authorization systems that replace static rules with real-time threat inspection and intent evaluation using LLMs and semantic analysis. The role focuses on building an Identity Security Fabric that ensures safe, auditable access for non-human entities in enterprise environments.
Responsibilities
- Architect scalable ML and Generative AI systems for real-time agent intent verification and behavioral analysis.
- Implement intent-based enforcement using LLM reasoning, prompt parsing, and zero-shot classification.
- Design confidence-scored decision engines integrating semantic results into policy frameworks like Cedar.
- Optimize RAG workflows and prompting strategies for accuracy and safety within Claude-based systems.
- Build automated evaluation pipelines to measure model quality, groundedness, and safety in production.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software development experience with strong Python expertise (Go or TypeScript a plus).
- Deep understanding of Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), embeddings, and knowledge-base workflows.
- Hands-on experience with modern GenAI platforms (AWS Bedrock, OpenAI, Anthropic) and agent frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph, LiteLLM).
