Cambridge Residency Programme: AI Researcher in Interactive Generative AI systems

Microsoft Research is seeking an AI Researcher to join the Cambridge Residency Programme, focusing on interactive generative AI systems. The role involves creating novel generative AI models, implementing prototypes, and evaluating new approaches in collaboration with world-class researchers and engineers.

• Collaborate to implement and evaluate new approaches in generative AI and interactive systems.
• Contribute to team goals by generating novel ideas, implementing prototypes, running experiments, and utilizing multi-node GPU infrastructure.
• Design efficient experimentation workflows to accelerate research iteration.
• Share knowledge and participate in design decisions, pair programming, and code reviews.
• Distill insights into research papers, presentations, or blog posts.

• Master's or PhD degree in AI, Computer Vision, ML, NLP, or related field.
• Research experience in deep learning, including state-of-the-art model architectures, data pipelines, and evaluation methods.
• Research experience in generative models (video, world models, diffusion, autoregressive), multimodal modeling, or AI systems for multi-step interaction.
• Hands-on knowledge of deep-learning frameworks with strong software engineering practices.
