Buzz Solutions is seeking a remote Machine Learning Engineer to join their computer vision team, building AI solutions for power grid infrastructure maintenance. The role focuses on adapting foundational models into production-ready systems for equipment defect detection, thermal anomaly identification, and vegetation encroachment monitoring. It bridges the gap between research and production, requiring strong engineering practices and hands-on model development.
Responsibilities
Stay current with ML/CV research and evaluate promising methods for the domain
Adapt and implement algorithms from papers, validating against baselines and benchmarking for production viability
Own end-to-end computer vision projects for equipment defect detection, thermal anomaly identification, and vegetation encroachment monitoring
Design and execute experiments with hyperparameter tuning, ablation studies, and appropriate baselines
Perform structured error analysis and break down performance by data slices such as object size, occlusion, and image quality
Select and justify model architectures based on task requirements, latency, and accuracy tradeoffs
Design and implement data pipelines, experiment tracking, model versioning, and serving pipelines
Conduct code reviews, write integration tests, and communicate research findings clearly to stakeholders
