Mill is seeking a Computer Vision Engineer to develop AI-driven systems for its commercial food waste recycling platform. The role involves training and optimizing segmentation, classification, and mass-estimation models for edge devices, while building robust MLOps pipelines and evaluation harnesses. You will work with foundation models, VLMs, and agentic systems to turn visual data into operational intelligence for commercial kitchens.
Responsibilities
- Train and evaluate segmentation, classification, and mass-estimation models for camera pipelines.
- Optimize edge models for production performance and scale ML pipelines with lineage tracking.
- Design cloud-side evaluation harnesses and build ground-truth workflows for model validation.
- Create and curate purpose-driven datasets to support accuracy targets across diverse environments.
- Analyze failure cases and drive data/modeling decisions to close accuracy gaps.
Requirements
- Strong fundamentals in computer vision (segmentation, detection, classification, tracking) and deep learning.
- Fluency with modern ML approaches including VLMs, LLMs, foundation models, and agentic systems.
- Experience evaluating ML models rigorously, designing metrics, and building eval harnesses.
