Lead Machine Learning Engineer (IC)

Capital One is seeking a Lead Machine Learning Engineer (IC) to join an Agile team focused on productionizing machine learning applications and systems at scale. The role spans ML architecture, model development, data pipelines, and MLOps best practices, including CI/CD, monitoring, and Responsible AI. You will collaborate with product and data science teams, build optimized data pipelines, and ensure high availability and performance of ML models in production.

• Design, build, and deliver ML models and components that solve real-world business problems in collaboration with Product and Data Science teams.
• Make ML infrastructure decisions based on modeling techniques, including model selection, feature selection, training, hyperparameter tuning, and validation.
• Write and test application code, develop and validate ML models, and automate tests and deployment.
• Retrain, maintain, and monitor models in production; construct optimized data pipelines to feed ML models.
• Leverage cloud-based architectures and CI/CD best practices to deploy optimized ML models at scale.
• Ensure code quality, model governance, and Responsible and Explainable AI practices.

• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 6 years of experience designing and building data-intensive solutions using distributed computing
• At least 4 years of experience programming with Python, Scala, or Java
