Wayve is seeking a Staff Tech Lead Manager to lead the Measurement team in AI Evaluation, focusing on offline scene understanding models for autonomous vehicles. The role involves managing senior ML engineers, defining technical architecture for foundation model adaptation, and driving production-grade ML systems for validation and simulation. This position requires deep expertise in computer vision, multimodal architectures, and cross-functional leadership within the UK and US.
Responsibilities
- Lead and grow a team of Senior Machine Learning Engineers, including hiring and development.
- Own the technical direction for adapting on-vehicle and foundation models for offline measurement use.
- Drive roadmap planning at sprint, quarterly, and annual cadences.
- Champion rigorous engineering practices for production-grade ML systems.
- Align roadmaps with on-vehicle modelling, Evaluation, and Simulation teams across global sites.
Requirements
- 8+ years in ML engineering with hands-on computer vision experience (camera/lidar).
- 2+ years line-managing or tech-leading senior engineers.
- Staff-level technical depth in transformer-based and multimodal architectures.
- Proficiency in Python and PyTorch.
