Wayve is seeking a Principal Machine Learning Engineer to own and lead the development of Gaia, their proprietary world model. This role focuses on post-training pipelines, fine-tuning large-scale foundation models, and optimizing autoregressive generation for long-horizon stability. The ideal candidate will provide technical leadership in architecture decisions while partnering with research and simulation teams.
Responsibilities
- Own Gaia's world model, leading post-training and closed-loop pipeline development
- Fine-tune and align large-scale language, video, or foundation models through targeted data curation
- Optimize autoregressive generation for longer, more stable rollouts and deployment readiness
- Contribute to model architecture and training-strategy decisions
- Provide technical leadership through mentorship and code reviews
Requirements
- Hands-on experience post-training or fine-tuning large-scale foundation models
- Deep expertise in world models, autoregressive generation, and long-horizon generation
- Fluency in modern ML stacks, specifically PyTorch, including debugging and performance optimization
- Ability to engage in high-level architecture and training-strategy debates
