Machine Learning Engineer Expert

SAP is seeking an Expert Machine Learning Engineer to design and optimize production-grade AI systems including agentic workflows and LLM-powered applications. The role involves setting MLOps standards, mentoring engineers, and shaping multi-quarter AI strategy.

• Set technical direction for production-grade AI products such as agentic systems and semantic retrieval pipelines.
• Architect agentic workflows and orchestration patterns for complex multi-step business processes.
• Take AI from prototype to enterprise scale by establishing MLOps and AI quality assurance standards (evaluation, CI/CD, monitoring, guardrails).
• Raise AI output quality, trust, and governance through context engineering and responsible AI practices.
• Shape multi-quarter strategy and roadmaps in partnership with Engineering, Product, and Design teams.

• Expert-level software engineering and architectural depth with large-scale SaaS experience.
• Strong working knowledge of deep learning, LLMs, agentic systems, semantic retrieval, and context engineering.
• Fluency in Python/Java and the ML ecosystem (e.g., PyTorch, Hugging Face).
• Proven record of scaling AI systems in production with MLOps discipline.
• Cross-organizational technical leadership and mentoring skills.

• Experience with distributed systems and large-scale SaaS architecture.
• Background in responsible AI and data ethics.
