Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Motional is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to lead the architecture and roadmap for ML systems powering autonomous vehicle data discovery. The role involves designing scalable frameworks for multimodal data mining and real-time inference, driving cross-functional initiatives, and mentoring engineers. The ideal candidate has extensive experience with large-scale ML systems and multimodal models.

• Define technical strategy and roadmaps for ML systems.
• Architect system-level solutions for scalable data mining and inference.

• Elevate engineering excellence through standards and processes.
• Operate as a generalist expert applying diverse ML techniques.
• Mentor and lead engineers, conduct architectural reviews.

• BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field.
• 8+ years of hands-on ML engineering experience.
• Experience with multimodal foundation models in production.
• Demonstrated technical leadership defining roadmaps and leading initiatives.
• Expert-level proficiency in Python and ML frameworks (PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX).
• Experience deploying ML models in cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Ability to mentor and drive consensus.
