Motional is seeking a Senior Engineer to lead the development of scalable data infrastructure and microservices supporting its autonomous driving ML teams. The role focuses on architecting high-throughput data pipelines, designing RESTful APIs for labeling workflows, and implementing observability tools for MLOps environments. Candidates will mentor junior engineers while leveraging modern AI coding assistants to accelerate backend development.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement RESTful APIs and microservices for autonomous vehicle data labeling
- Architect and maintain scalable cloud ETL pipelines to process terabytes of training data
- Develop monitoring and observability solutions for MLOps data service pipelines
- Mentor junior engineers through pairing sessions and code reviews
Requirements
- 5+ years of software development experience with strong proficiency in Python
- 5+ years of web backend development with REST APIs and microservices architecture
- 3+ years of hands-on AWS cloud experience (e.g., EKS, Lambda, S3, DynamoDB)
- 3+ years of data engineering experience using Airflow, Prefect, or Step Functions
- BS or MS in Computer Science or related field
