Motional is hiring a Senior Machine Learning Engineer to build the 'Brain' of their ML-powered data mining framework, Omnitag. The role involves designing teacher-student models for multimodal sensor data, applying reinforcement learning for data discovery, and deploying models for real-time inference.
Responsibilities
Architect and train distilled models using teacher-student frameworks for multimodal sensor data.
Build RL-based policy learning and reasoning systems for autonomous driving applications.
Optimize model deployment for real-time inference on GPU/CPU clusters.
Research and integrate agentic systems for autonomous reasoning and planning.
Drive production reliability, degradation patterns, and cost optimization.
Mentor junior engineers and collaborate with ML scientists and data engineers.
Requirements
BS in Computer Science, Machine Learning, or related field, or equivalent experience.
6+ years of hands-on experience in ML engineering with focus on model optimization and deployment.
Strong experience with model distillation or teacher-student training.
Proven experience with reinforcement learning in production or research.
