Faculty is seeking a Senior Data Scientist specializing in AI Safety to lead high-impact projects focused on responsible AI development and evaluation standards. You will design novel evaluation frameworks, mentor technical teams, and partner with frontier labs and government clients to ensure secure and trustworthy AI systems. This role combines hands-on scientific research, software architecture, and strategic project leadership.
Responsibilities
- Lead project teams delivering upstream AI safety solutions and evaluation standards to frontier labs
- Design core scientific experiments and build associated software architectures
- Mentor technical team members and guide their professional growth
- Partner with commercial teams to scope projects and assess technical feasibility
- Contribute to thought leadership through research, public speaking, or open-source publications
Requirements
- Senior experience in data science, upstream safety research, or quantitative academia
- Strong programming skills in Python with NumPy and Pandas
- Experience with evaluation frameworks (e.g., Inspect AI) and agentic harnesses
- Proven ability to develop novel evaluation standards for specialized domains
