ElevenLabs is seeking a Senior AI Safety Engineer to design and build scalable backend infrastructure for abuse detection and moderation systems. The role focuses on protecting free-tier users from fraud and bot farming by deploying AI/ML models into production environments. You will bridge the gap between ML research and engineering, ensuring safety systems are robust, observable, and scalable.
Responsibilities
- Design and build scalable backend infrastructure for abuse detection and real-time/batch moderation workflows
- Deploy AI/ML models into production systems and integrate them across product suites
- Implement comprehensive monitoring, alerting, and observability systems with defined SLIs/SLOs
- Partner with ML engineers to translate research models into production-ready systems
- Drive technical decisions and contribute to the safety roadmap for platform guardrails
Requirements
- 6+ years of backend software engineering experience building production systems at scale
- Direct experience tackling free-tier abuse, fraud detection, or fake-account/bot farming
- Strong expertise in distributed systems, APIs, data pipelines, and Python (asynchronous)
- Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS/GCP), containerization (Docker/K8s), and CI/CD
