OpenAI is seeking a Protection Scientist Engineer to join its Integrity team in London. This role focuses on identifying and investigating misuses of AI products, designing abuse monitoring systems, and developing scaled safety mitigations through data science and machine learning.
Responsibilities
- Design and build systems to proactively identify and enforce against abuse on OpenAI's products.
- Prototype and mature production systems for detection, review, and enforcement of major harms.
- Investigate critical escalations and sensitive content violations.
- Collaborate with Product, Policy, and Engineering teams to define risk mitigation strategies.
Requirements
- At least 4 years of experience in technical analysis and detection using SQL and Python.
- Experience in trust and safety, policy, or enforcement domains.
- Basic data engineering skills (building tables, writing pipelines) and understanding of ML principles.
- Strong investigative mindset and ability to work cross-functionally.
Nice to Have
- Experience scaling and automating processes, especially with language models.
