ElevenLabs is hiring a Safety Engineer to build and scale automated moderation, abuse detection, and guardrail systems that keep their voice and chat agents safe across 70+ languages. You will work with the Investigations team to turn emerging abuse patterns into detection mechanisms, deploy fine-tuned ML models into production, and own the architecture, reliability, and monitoring of internal safety services. The role involves translating legal, regulatory, and policy requirements into scalable engineering while balancing product growth, user experience, and platform safety.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale automated moderation, abuse detection, and guardrail systems for voice and chat agents across 70+ languages
- Collaborate with the Investigations team to identify and address emerging abuse patterns
- Deploy fine-tuned ML models into production alongside ML engineers
- Own the architecture, reliability, and monitoring of internal safety services
- Translate legal, regulatory, and policy requirements into scalable engineering solutions
- Navigate tradeoffs between product growth, user experience, and platform safety
Requirements
- At least 5 years of software engineering experience building and operating production systems
- Strong backend skills in Python, API design, databases, and distributed cloud applications
