Campfire is seeking a Staff-level AI Agent Engineer to build and operate production-grade agentic applications for their modern accounting software platform. The role involves designing agent architectures, implementing tool calling and orchestration, and ensuring reliability through rigorous evaluation and monitoring. You will work closely with product and design to turn ambiguous financial workflows into trusted, automated software solutions.
Responsibilities
- Design and build production LLM-powered agents for accounting workflows
- Implement tool calling, retrieval, and integration with application data
- Establish engineering practices for agent quality, tracing, and monitoring
- Balance accuracy, latency, cost, and complexity in agent decisions
- Lead complex technical initiatives and mentor other engineers
Requirements
- Strong software engineering background with Python expertise
- Experience designing and operating production backend systems
- Hands-on experience shipping LLM agents used by real customers
- Knowledge of distributed systems, APIs, and data models
- Track record of staff-level impact and architectural decision-making
