Monstro is seeking a Staff Software Engineer to architect and build AI agent systems and orchestration layers for its regulated financial intelligence platform. You will design auditable, deterministic AI workflows, develop internal Python/React applications, and establish production-grade evaluation and compliance guardrails. This role combines deep distributed systems expertise with hands-on LLM integration to deliver trustworthy, explainable financial guidance at scale.
Responsibilities
- Architect and build AI agent systems including multi-agent workflows and orchestration layers
- Design modeling and reasoning systems ensuring correctness and explainability for financial services
- Develop internal platforms using Python and React for domain experts and engineers
- Own distributed backend infrastructure including event-driven workers and job pipelines
- Establish patterns for AI output validation, hallucination detection, and compliance guardrails
- Lead technical decisions across teams and mentor senior engineers
Requirements
- 8+ years of engineering experience leading complex systems from design to production
- Strong Python expertise with async services, type-safe code, and scalable systems
- Deep understanding of distributed systems fundamentals (event-driven architectures, message queues, worker patterns)
