About the Role
Archer Aviation is seeking an Algorithm Engineer to develop mission planning, multi-platform coordination, and onboard decision-making algorithms for its all-electric vertical takeoff and landing aircraft. The role focuses on designing path and motion planning for single- and multi-agent systems, integrating algorithms with the onboard software stack, and validating behavior through simulation and field testing. Requires strong C++ and Python skills, as well as experience with ROS 2 and multi-agent coordination.
Responsibilities
- Develop and mature mission planning, multi-platform coordination, and onboard decision-making algorithms
- Design and implement path and motion planning algorithms for single- and multi-agent systems
- Develop optimization and decision-making approaches for operation under uncertainty
- Integrate algorithms with the broader onboard software stack
- Validate system behaviors through simulation and field testing
- Collaborate with perception, navigation, and integration teams to field robust multi-agent systems
Requirements
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python
- Experience with path/motion planning algorithms
- Experience with multi-agent or distributed coordination algorithms
- Experience with optimization and decision-making under uncertainty
- Experience with ROS 2
