Standard Bots is seeking an AI Applications Engineer to bridge robotics, AI, and hands-on field deployment. This role involves designing AI-enabled robotic solutions, building proofs of concept, and traveling up to 50% to install and commission systems at customer sites. The ideal candidate combines software proficiency with mechanical/electrical knowledge to solve real-world manufacturing challenges.
Responsibilities
- Design and build proofs of concept for AI-enabled robotic cells using computer vision and language models
- Travel to customer sites to install, configure, and commission AI-enabled robotic systems
- Train customer operators on AI capabilities and provide post-install technical support
- Collaborate with sales and engineering teams to scope solutions and integrate peripherals
- Troubleshoot on-site issues and feed real-world learnings back to product development
Requirements
- Proficiency in Python and robot programming
- Prior hands-on experience with robotics (manipulation, high school or professional level)
- Fluency in ML concepts including CNNs, object detection, and visual language models
- Strong technical documentation and project management skills
