Tau Robotics is seeking a Research Engineer/Scientist to develop general-purpose AI for humanoid robots. The role focuses on scaling supervised pretraining on large multi-modal robot datasets and training manipulation policies that transfer effectively to real-world environments.
Responsibilities
- Build and scale supervised pretraining runs on large multi-modal robot datasets
- Train multi-task manipulation policies and evaluate transferability
- Define finetuning recipes to bridge pretrained policies with the RL loop
Requirements
- Experience with large-scale pretraining, behavior cloning, or vision-language-action models
- Comfort building data pipelines for large multimodal datasets
- Strong Python skills plus proficiency in PyTorch or JAX
- Portfolio of papers, repos, or trained models used by others
Nice to Have
- Background in robotics or embodied AI research
- Experience with reinforcement learning integration
