Mutable Tactics is seeking a Robotics Software Engineer on a contract basis to develop autonomous systems for unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs). The role involves integrating computer vision, multi-agent AI, and probabilistic inference into squad robotic solutions for mission-critical operations. Candidates will work in Cambridge, UK, focusing on edge computing integration, simulation, and control system design.
Responsibilities
- Develop autonomous control systems for UAVs using ROS/ROS2 and simulation environments like Gazebo or IsaacSim.
- Integrate edge compute hardware (e.g., Nvidia Jetson) and sensors/actuators for drone perception and navigation.
- Implement AI capabilities for orchestrating heterogeneous UAV squads to solve complex missions.
- Conduct testing and validation of robotic systems in various environments.
- Apply knowledge of SLAM, computer vision, and machine learning to improve system performance.
Requirements
- MSc in automation, control, machine learning, robotics, or related field.
- 2+ years of proven experience with autonomous systems, specifically UAVs.
- Strong proficiency in C++ and Python.
- Experience with ROS/ROS2, Nav2, MoveIt, Ardupilot, PX4, and simulation tools.
