Apptronik is seeking a Principal Robotics Machine Learning Engineer to lead the development of learned manipulation capabilities for their Apollo humanoid robot. This role involves driving the end-to-end lifecycle of ML models from data engine design and simulation prototyping to on-robot deployment in production environments. The ideal candidate will bridge cutting-edge research with scalable software, focusing on computer vision, deep learning, and robotic hardware integration.
Responsibilities
- Implement and deploy state-of-the-art ML models for open-world object manipulation on physical hardware.
- Drive the data engine strategy including collection, curation, annotation, and synthetic/real data mixing.
- Manage the full development cycle from simulation prototyping to robust model transfer and fine-tuning on robots.
- Diagnose performance bottlenecks distinguishing between classical vision issues and model/data deficiencies.
- Mentor team members and foster a culture of technical rigor and architectural excellence.
Requirements
- 7+ years of relevant experience (or 5+ with PhD) in robotic manipulation or complex motion control.
- Expertise in CNNs, transformers, and VLAs.
- Proficiency in Python, C++, and PyTorch for real-time robotic software stacks.
