Applied Scientist, Alexa Connected Devices - Seattle

Amazon's Alexa Connected Devices team is seeking an Applied Scientist to develop state-of-the-art context-aware conversational AI using LLMs. The role involves researching and implementing novel modeling techniques for natural interactions between Alexa+ devices and the Alexa Cloud. You will work on core LLM technologies including prompt optimization, supervised fine-tuning, and learning from human feedback.

• Research and develop novel algorithms and modeling techniques for natural and contextual conversations.
• Analyze and improve user experiences using Amazon’s heterogeneous data sources and large-scale computing resources.
• Work on core LLM technologies including prompt engineering, supervised fine-tuning, learning from human feedback, evaluation, and self-learning.
• Ship new products and services that directly impact millions of Alexa customers.

• 3+ years of experience building models for business applications.
• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years in CS, CE, ML or related field.
• Experience programming in Java, C++, Python or related language.
• Experience in algorithms and data structures, parsing, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
