NEW AI Scientist , Paris/London, Onsite or Hybrid or Remote

Mistral AI is seeking an AI Scientist to push the boundaries of AI by developing and scaling cutting-edge models, including LLMs and multimodal systems. The role involves research, tooling, and infrastructure for training/evaluating models at scale, and collaboration with cross-functional teams to deploy real-world AI solutions. This is a remote-friendly position open to candidates worldwide.

• Research and develop novel methods to advance LLM capabilities.
• Design and implement tooling and infrastructure for training, evaluating, and analyzing AI models at scale.
• Collaborate with scientists, engineers, and product teams to ship impactful AI systems.
• Explore innovations across reasoning, code generation, and agent-based systems.
• Work with multimodal data (text, image, speech) to expand model capabilities.
• Optimize distributed systems for efficient, scalable model training.
• Contribute to the open-source community by releasing frontier models.

• Track record of contributing to relevant scientific domains (publications or open-source projects).
• Hands-on experience with AI frameworks like PyTorch or JAX, or distributed systems such as Ray or Kubernetes.
• Proficiency in at least one programming language: Python, Rust, Go, or Java.
• Ability to design complex software systems and transition them to production.
