Applied Scientist (GenAI/LLM), Sandstone

Amazon is recruiting an Applied Scientist to lead the development of foundational behavioral models for Amazon Stores using Generative AI and LLMs. The role involves researching new algorithms, optimizing inference and deployment, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to integrate GenAI into customer-facing products. Candidates should have a PhD or substantial research experience in machine learning and a strong publication record.

• Research and implement new algorithms and architectures for generative AI applications.
• Optimize model performance and scalability for inference and deployment.
• Collaborate with applied scientists and engineers to gather and preprocess large datasets and improve training infrastructure.
• Experiment with state-of-the-art methods to improve generative AI model quality.
• Provide technical expertise and guidance for integrating generative AI solutions into products and services.

• PhD, or Master's degree and 4+ years of experience in CS, CE, ML or related field.
• 2+ years of experience building models for business applications.
• Programming experience in Java, C++, Python or a related language.
• Experience in algorithms, data structures, numerical optimization, data mining, parallel/distributed computing, or high-performance computing.
• Patents or publications at top-tier peer-reviewed conferences or journals.
