Ai2's Climate Modeling team is hiring a Research Engineer for a three-year, google.org-funded project to develop NeuralGCM+, an open-source AI-first hybrid climate model designed to project future climates more accurately than current physics-based models. You will adapt the NeuralGCM training pipeline (written in JAX) to run efficiently on Google Cloud and NVIDIA GPUs, couple it with an ML-based ocean model, and improve its generalization to unseen climates. This is an on-site role in Seattle with a term through September 2029 and potential for extension based on project progress.
