The Secure AI Lab at Carnegie Mellon University's Software Engineering Institute is seeking a Senior Machine Learning Research Scientist to conduct research on vulnerabilities of AI/ML algorithms and develop defenses. The role involves leading novel research, transitioning capabilities to government sponsors, and mentoring junior team members. This position is based in Pittsburgh, PA or Arlington, VA.
Responsibilities
Conduct and lead novel research in applied machine learning and AI security
Lead interdisciplinary teams to turn research into prototype capabilities
Plan and execute research strategy
Collaborate with researchers, government customers, and stakeholders
Mentor junior team members
Requirements
Bachelor's degree in CS, stats, ML, EE or related with 10+ years experience; OR MS with 8+ years; OR PhD with 5+ years
Comprehensive knowledge of machine learning
Track record of conducting research and applying scientific methods
Experience leading research projects
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Willingness to work onsite 5 days/week
Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance
