Staff Machine Learning Engineer

Remitly is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join the Core AI/ML team. You will lead the end-to-end ML lifecycle, build scalable feature pipelines, and drive technical strategy across the organization. This role involves mentoring engineers and collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver customer-facing ML systems.

• Lead the end-to-end ML lifecycle from raw data to model deployment.
• Design, build, and scale feature pipelines for batch and real-time ML applications.
• Partner with data scientists, product owners, and engineers to turn prototypes into reliable systems.
• Optimize models using MLOps best practices: automated retraining, drift detection, CI/CD, monitoring.
• Mentor and lead other engineers, champion design reviews, and maintain code quality.
• Drive technical strategy and influence ML architecture decisions.

• Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, Mathematics or equivalent.
• 10+ years delivering Machine Learning systems in production.
• Strong programming skills in Python, Go, Scala or similar.
• Hands-on experience with ML frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, scikit-learn, numpy).
• Experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
