W.W. Grainger is seeking an Applied Machine Learning Scientist to design and deploy advanced ML solutions for its e-procurement systems. The role involves working with classical statistical modeling through modern AI and foundation models to solve business problems in prediction, ranking, and recommendation. You will collaborate with engineering and product teams to build scalable, production-ready machine learning workflows.
Responsibilities
- Design, train, and validate machine learning and deep learning models for prediction, classification, and retrieval.
- Conduct exploratory data analysis to frame business problems and define modeling requirements.
- Build maintainable code and data workflows using Python, SQL, and orchestration tools.
- Evaluate model performance and recommend improvements based on error analysis.
- Partner with stakeholders to translate requirements into scalable production solutions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or related field; Master's preferred.
- 2+ years of experience in machine learning, data science, or applied statistics.
- Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, including the scientific stack (numpy, scipy, scikit-learn, pandas).
