JetBrains is seeking a Staff Research Engineer to lead the training of large-scale foundation models for coding tasks from scratch. You will design and deploy production ML systems on a massive GPU cluster, handling everything from dataset processing to distributed training of multi-billion parameter models. This role requires strong expertise in NLP, transformers, and LLM inference frameworks.
Responsibilities
- Train Large Language Models (LLMs) from scratch on large GPU clusters
- Collect and process pre-training and fine-tuning datasets
- Deploy LLMs into production environments for global end-users
- Convert business requirements into technical specifications
- Support and improve existing AI subsystems
Requirements
- Experience in design, deployment, and support of production ML systems
- Strong theoretical background in NLP and transformer-based approaches
- Proficiency with PyTorch and common NLP libraries
- Experience in distributed training of multi-billion parameter models
- Ability to plan projects independently and take sole responsibility for subsystems
