FieldAI is seeking a Research/Software Engineer in Boston to build the learning systems powering its next generation of humanoid robots. The role spans whole-body loco-manipulation, reinforcement learning, motion retargeting, and sim-to-real deployment on physical humanoids. You will close the loop between research, simulation, and real-world robot operation as part of FieldAI's growing R&D team, whose Field Foundational Models are already deployed globally.
Responsibilities
Develop and train whole-body loco-manipulation policies for humanoid robots
Deploy trained policies to physical humanoids and integrate them into the production software stack
Advance the motion retargeting pipeline, turning human motion into physically plausible robot-executable behaviors
Reduce the sim-to-real gap by improving simulation fidelity and closing the real-to-sim loop with real-world robot data
Build automated evaluation and validation systems for moving policies from simulation onto physical robots
Improve the performance and scalability of robot-learning infrastructure for faster experimentation
Collaborate across perception, learning, simulation, and hardware teams to turn research into deployed capabilities
FieldAI specializes in general robot intelligence for the physical world, developing hardware-agnostic AI platforms that enable robots to navigate and operate safely in complex, unstructured environments without prior maps or GPS. Their Field Foundation Models (FFMs) are deployed in industries including construction, manufacturing, energy, and security.
