Zalando's Lounge Assortment Optimisation team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Machine Learning) to build and operate production systems for optimisation, forecasting, and Generative AI. You will design scalable data and ML pipelines, productionise models, and ensure reliability and observability. This role bridges data platforms, machine learning, and product development, working closely with applied scientists and commercial stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Build and operate production systems for optimisation, forecasting, machine learning, and Generative AI use cases.
- Design scalable data and ML pipelines using Python, Databricks, Spark, Airflow, and dbt.
- Enable applied scientists by providing reusable training, evaluation, deployment, and experiment-tracking capabilities.
- Productionise models: define inputs/outputs, automate deployment, monitor quality, and ensure traceability.
- Develop and operate workloads in Databricks and Kubernetes environments.
- Build operational dashboards, alerts, and runbooks.
- Collaborate with product and commercial partners to translate business rules into software components.
- Raise engineering standards for system design, testing, CI/CD, and observability.
