Workday's Sana team is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to build core agent infrastructure for enterprise superintelligence. You will architect multi-step planning, orchestration, and tool routing for AI agents, focusing on reliability, safety, and scalability in production environments. This role combines deep software engineering with advanced LLM application patterns.

• Architect multi-step planning, orchestration, and tool routing for AI agents
• Implement code generation agents and sandboxed code execution environments
• Engineer memory, state, and context packing/grounding strategies
• Balance latency, quality, and cost controls for agent execution
• Develop safe fallbacks, graceful degradation, and robust error handling
• Collaborate with platform teams to deliver reusable agent infrastructure

• 3+ years of software engineering experience building production backend or platform systems
• 3+ years of experience in TypeScript with reliable, maintainable services
• Experience with distributed systems, APIs, asynchronous workflows, and service-oriented architecture
• Deep understanding of OpenAI, Google, and Anthropic LLM APIs (tool calling, prompt caching)
• Experience building LLM-powered applications and agent platforms in production

• Familiarity with RAG, memory management, and human-in-the-loop systems
• Experience with ML system evaluation, drift detection, and training pipelines
• Hands-on use of Langfuse or LangSmith for LLM evaluation
• Experience with vector databases and experimentation tooling
• Experience running services in Kubernetes-based environments on GCP
• Contributions to open source TypeScript projects
