Staff Machine Learning Engineer, Personalization

Spotify is seeking a Staff Machine Learning Engineer to join its Personalization team and lead the ML systems powering the Home feed and Shortcuts experiences. The role involves building recommendation systems, fine-tuning large language models, and scaling production ML infrastructure. You will drive technical direction, mentor engineers, and deliver personalized experiences to millions of users globally.

• Own and improve the machine learning models and systems that power the Home feed, including the Shortcuts experience.
• Design, build, and ship personalized recommendations for millions of Spotify listeners.
• Build content recommendation systems for agentic and AI-powered user experiences.
• Train, fine-tune, evaluate, and optimize large language models using SFT, distillation, and parameter-efficient training.
• Partner with product managers, engineers, data scientists, and designers to execute experimentation strategies.
• Drive A/B testing, monitoring, model evaluation, and continuous optimization of recommendation quality, reliability, and cost efficiency.
• Improve ML platform capabilities, data pipelines, and production systems.
• Drive technical direction and contribute to long-term architecture.
• Mentor and support other machine learning engineers.

• 8+ years of experience building and deploying ML systems in production.
