Perplexity is seeking an AI Software Engineer to join its Agents team, focusing on building autonomous systems that interact with the digital world to fulfill complex user intents. The role involves designing agent harnesses, training action and decision models, and developing secure, scalable architectures for multimodal AI experiences across desktop, mobile, and cloud environments. You will collaborate across product, design, and research to push the boundaries of what agentic AI can achieve.
Responsibilities
- Engineer agent harnesses connecting powerful models with tools and environments for user tasks
- Drive cutting-edge AI capabilities across multiple layers of the agentic product stack
- Develop and scale AI models, infrastructure, and browser technologies for frontier capabilities
- Ensure high quality in AI agent performance and user experience
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate core functionality into agentic products
- Contribute to reliability, code quality, evaluation, testing, and maintenance
Requirements
- Strong foundational familiarity with the full AI product stack
- Proficiency in Python; bonus points for TypeScript, Go, or Rust
- Significant experience in context engineering, tool interfaces, post-training, RL, or browser technologies
