Applied AI, Forward Deployed Machine Learning Engineer - Palo Alto

Mistral AI seeks an Applied AI Engineer to drive customer adoption of its AI products, working closely with clients from pre-sale to deployment. The role involves onboarding, fine-tuning LLMs, building state-of-the-art GenAI applications, and collaborating with researchers and product teams.

• Onboard customers on products and APIs, providing guidance on prompting, evaluation, and fine-tuning. Ensure best production integration with back-end and front-end interfaces. Work on state-of-the-art GenAI applications across consumer and industrial use cases. Deploy high-impact production use cases. Collaborate with researchers, AI engineers, and product engineers on complex customer projects involving fine-tuning and LLM applications. Participate in pre-sales calls to understand client needs and provide technical guidance.

• Fluent in English. PhD or Master in AI/data science. 2+ years as a technical individual contributor on AI-based products. Experience fine-tuning LLMs, advanced RAG, and agentic use cases. Deep understanding of ML and LLM concepts. Experience building and deploying LLM/NLP applications. Proven experience with AI/ML product implementation (APIs, backend, frontend). Strong coding skills in Python. Experience with PyTorch. Experience with agents frameworks (e.g., Langchain) and vector DBs. Strong communication skills.
