LLM Scientist, AI for Science

Mistral is hiring an LLM Scientist to advance AI-driven scientific discovery. You will develop and optimize large language models, agentic AI, and deep learning frameworks to solve open problems in biology, chemistry, physics, and materials science. The role involves end-to-end training, data creation, and algorithm design in collaboration with natural science domain experts.

• Participate in end-to-end training of LLM-based solutions focused on scalability, generalization, and scientific applicability
• Design original workflows to accumulate high-quality scientific data at scale via synthetic or crowd-sourced pipelines
• Improve reinforcement learning and agentic systems for natural science challenges such as modeling resolution, material property prediction, and advanced data analysis
• Collaborate closely with natural sciences domain experts to translate AI advancements into real-world scientific impact

• Experience developing and optimizing large language models (LLMs)
• Strong background in deep learning frameworks and reinforcement learning
• Ability to design and manage large-scale data creation pipelines
• Interest in applying AI to natural sciences (biology, chemistry, physics, or materials science)
