A hands-on ML Research Engineer role within Microsoft Research Cambridge's Research Engineering team, accelerating Machine Intelligence research across training, fine-tuning, inference and evaluation at single- and multi-GPU scale. You will prototype ML systems, validate research outcomes, and partner with product teams to transfer research into shipping products. The role blends ML research with strong software engineering and data-analysis skills.
Responsibilities
- Design, implement and validate proof-of-concept ML solutions to Machine Intelligence problems
- Build and evaluate ML system prototypes, bringing some to product-level readiness
- Collaborate with researchers and product teams to smooth technology transfer
- Contribute to academic publication of research outcomes
- Apply high-quality engineering standards and ensure software security across prototypes and library supply chains
- Follow ethics and privacy policies for research processes and data handling
Requirements
- Master's degree in Computer Science or related area, or equivalent research training and experience
- Experience with modern ML model architectures in PyTorch
- Proficient in collaborative software development in Python
