ICON is looking for a Senior AI Engineer to join its Government Technology team, focusing on building agentic AI systems and LLM-powered features for construction technology. The role involves designing multi-agent pipelines, RAG systems, and tool-use architectures. This position is remote with occasional travel to Austin, TX.
Responsibilities
Design and build agentic AI systems that automate complex, multi-step workflows
Develop LLM-powered features and products using foundation models and APIs (e.g., Anthropic, OpenAI)
Architect and implement multi-agent pipelines, tool-use systems, and MCP integrations
Build robust RAG systems including document ingestion, chunking, embeddings, and vector retrieval
Collaborate with teams to identify AI automation opportunities and ship products
Own full development lifecycle: prototyping, evaluation, deployment, iteration
Serve as technical resource and mentor on agentic AI best practices
Stay at leading edge of agentic AI landscape and bring techniques to production
Requirements
8+ years of professional software engineering experience
Experience building and shipping production-grade products using LLMs and agentic frameworks
Proficiency in TypeScript and/or Python
Deep understanding of prompt engineering, context management, and LLM reasoning patterns
