Draftwise is seeking an early-career Forward Deployed AI Engineer to embed with top law firms and extend their AI-powered contract drafting platform. You will model legal precedents into ontologies, build backend services for search and review workflows, and develop production LLM systems including retrieval and evaluation scaffolding. This internship offers hands-on experience with real customer deployments, scaling large document processing, and full-stack feature ownership alongside senior engineers.
Responsibilities
- Model legal precedents and playbooks into structured ontologies for AI reasoning
- Build and maintain backend services for drafting, review, and search workflows
- Develop and test production LLM systems, including prompts, retrieval, and evaluation pipelines
- Optimize system scale, performance, and cost under interactive latency constraints
- Deploy features into elite law firms and collaborate directly with customers alongside senior FDEs
- Ship frontend UI changes using TypeScript and React as needed
