Staff AI Engineer

Bluefish is looking for a Staff AI Engineer to lead the architecture and execution of its data platform and LLM-powered products. The role owns critical decisions across data pipelines, model integration, deployment, and evals while mentoring engineers and raising data literacy across the org. This remote-friendly role is linked to Berlin, Germany.

• Lead end-to-end architecture for data platforms and pipelines: scraping, extraction, transformation, storage, serving, and ML/LLM integration.
• Scale pipelines and systems safely with rollout plans and data-quality metrics.
• Translate business goals into actionable data products, writing RFCs and sequencing project work.
• Establish engineering standards for testing, evals, observability, data contracts, and security.
• Mentor engineers, lead architecture reviews, and drive cross-functional collaboration.
• Prototype data/ML capabilities, evaluate feasibility, and productionalize pragmatically.

• 8+ years building and operating production data systems, including deploying LLMs at scale.
• Deep experience with Python and modern service architectures; strong system design and data modeling fundamentals.
• Experience training and deploying ML models, particularly in the NLP/LLM domain.
• Familiarity with infrastructure as code, CI/CD, and cloud infrastructure.
