Member of Technical Staff, Senior/Staff MLE

Cohere seeks a Senior/Staff Member of Technical Staff in Applied ML to work directly with enterprise customers, customizing frontier LLMs and contributing to foundation model improvements. This role combines customer-facing solution design, hands-on modeling with Cohere's full stack, and influence on future model capabilities.

• Lead design and delivery of custom LLM solutions for enterprise customers; translate ambiguous business problems into ML problems with clear evaluation; build custom models using CPT, post-training (including RLVR), and data assets; develop SOTA modeling techniques; contribute improvements back to foundation-model stack; mentor engineers across distributed teams.

• Strong ML fundamentals; fluency in Python and core ML/LLM frameworks; experience with large-scale datasets and distributed training/inference; understanding of LLM architectures, tuning techniques (CPT, post-training), and evaluation; demonstrated ability to shape LLM performance; experience engaging with customers to deliver ML solutions; track record of technical leadership.
