About the Role
avatarin, a Tokyo-based startup spun off from ANA Holdings, is seeking a Speech AI Machine Learning Engineer to develop and integrate speech AI capabilities into their flagship robot 'newme'. The role involves designing speech AI pipelines including ASR, VAD, emotion recognition, and speaker diarization, deploying models on NVIDIA Jetson boards, and conducting research in multimodal AI. The team works in an English-speaking, fast-paced environment with flexible remote work.
Responsibilities
- Design and implement Speech AI pipeline (ASR, VAD, language detection, emotion recognition, speaker diarization, noise removal)
- Develop and tune voice models for 'Omotenashi AI' using ANA top talent service data
- Deploy lightweight speech AI modules on Jetson boards for large-scale production (Python/C++)
- Conduct R&D on latest speech AI and multimodal AI technologies
- Participate in code reviews, tech sharing, and architecture discussions
Requirements
- Python and C++ programming experience
- Experience with Git and container-based development (Docker/Podman)
- Knowledge of audio signal processing (spectrogram, MFCC, FFT)
- Hands-on experience with at least one: ASR, VAD, speaker diarization, emotion recognition, or noise removal
- Deep learning fundamentals (CNN/RNN/Transformer)
- Native Japanese and conversational English
