Sr AI Engineer I

American Express is seeking a Senior AI Engineer to join its Enterprise AI Platforms Team as a Forward Deployed AI Engineer. The role involves partnering with business units to identify high-value Generative AI opportunities and leading the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions. You'll work at the intersection of software engineering, solution architecture, and AI innovation, building secure, scalable production systems using LLMs, agentic AI, cloud platforms, and enterprise data.

• Partner with business units, product teams, and enterprise customers to identify high-value opportunities for Generative AI and intelligent automation.
• Lead the design, development, and deployment of AI-powered solutions that improve customer experiences, accelerate operations, and enable data-driven decision making.
• Translate business challenges into secure, scalable production solutions using Large Language Models (LLMs), agentic AI, cloud platforms, and enterprise data.

• 5+ years of software engineering or solution architecture experience.
• Experience building cloud-native applications using AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
• Strong programming skills in Python and experience with REST APIs, containers, CI/CD, and distributed systems.
• Experience delivering enterprise solutions with strong customer-facing communication skills.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (master's preferred).
